Romeo’n’Juliet at TNTm

Last week I was asked to shoot the rehearsal of Romeo and Juliet in the vision of Rahim Burham, a play that is currently playing at Teatrul National Timisoara. The photos were to be used for different promotional purposes.

I had some doubts if I would be able to pull this one off with my current camera gear, because no flash lighting was allowed so this meant I had to shoot at slow shutter speeds and high ISO.

My lens doesn’t have image stabilization and my camera doesn’t do so well with high ISO so I was kind of nervous about it.

I shot for about 2.5 hours. Most of the time I was running around the X shaped stage trying to get close to the next scene.

More than half the images are blurry(lens blur, motion blur, etc.) but there are some that were pretty decent and ended up being used in different printed and digital promotional materials.

I made a small selection of images (from the ones that turned out not to be blurry).

Last week I was kind of down because I didn’t take any pictures in a long time and then it suddenly hit me why that is.

That happened because I became what you’d call a photo snob. Only shooting indoors with studio lights and models with makeup and hair, while forgetting about what i enjoyed about photography.

So I took my camera for a walk last Friday and went to a gathering of people from FotoTm. While there I ran into a concert in Unirii Square and took a few shots.

None of the images are masterpieces but there are a few I like.

I’ll post a couple more as soon as I have the time to process them.

Graduation Party

Last week I attended the graduation party of my (very pretty) girlfriend and I also took some shots while there.

Studentfest 2009 – Expose Photo Workshop

Today I went to an event that was part of the 2009 edition of StudentFest, and to be more precise to a photography workshop held by a group of photographers from Bucharest, who call themselves the Expose Group.
They showed us a few lighting tips and tricks

They chose a winner for a small photography contest was held in the previous days:

We stood and listened

And then we tried ourselves

Then they ate a sandwich

and we said our goodbyes cause time was up and they had to leave for the train station to return to Bucharest.
